Red Carpet Style Oscars 2012

Pastels are always such a feminine choice on the red carpet (and if you feel like wearing a subtle colour on your wedding day, a great place to turn for inspiration!) Berenice Bejo wore a mint green Ellie Saab gown with full length lace sleeves while Kate Mara was pretty in pink in a strapless Jack Guisso Couture frock.Wendi McLendon-Covey also went for soft pink with nude, glittering detail by Simin Haute Couture. Penelope Cruz wore the most beautiful blue Amani Prive gown that sat off the shoulders and draped so elegantly.
Milla Jovovich looked every bit the Hollywood glamour girl in a one shouldered shimmering white gown by Ellie Saab. Rooney Mara stayed true to her own personal style in Givenchy, Gwyneth Paltrow kept her look sleek and elegant with a cape designed by Tom Ford while Octavia Spencer looked just beautiful in her embellished Tadashi Shoji gown.

If there is ever an occasion to wear sparkles it’s the red carpet (or .. your wedding day!) What a lovely surprise to see Maya Rudolph in Australian designer Johanna Johnson (the back of this gown is a stunning jewel encrusted feature). Sandra Bullock went for a glittering waist band in a design from Marchesa. Rose Byrne went for classic black with a twist, she shimmered in Vivienne Westwood.  Judy Greer styled up a dramatic Monique L’huillier silver and black gown while Ellie Kemper gave colour to her sparkling look with a fire coloured strapless Armani Prive gown.

Who were your favourites from this year’s Oscars?

THREE TWISTED BUNS

Instructions:
1. This style is so easy, it’s laughable. Day-old hair is best (which is true for most hairstyles, since it’s easier to work with hair that has a little dirt in it).
2. Divide your hair into three equal parts and quickly spray each section with a little hairspray to help give it hold. Let the hairspray set for a couple seconds, and then lightly comb it out.
3. Take the section on your right side, and twist your hair all the way down to the end. You want to twist counter-clockwise, toward your face. Wrap the right section in on itself, just like you’re making a little bun. Let some of the hair stick out, it’s ok (you don’t want them to look like Princess Leia buns).
4. Pin the right bun in place. I like to use these mini bobby pins, since they’re easier to hide and they’re coated in rubber so they hold your hair better.
5. Next, twist the middle section clockwise and pin. Then twist the left section clockwise and pin.
6. Spray the three buns with a little more hairspray, and you’re done!

UNIQUE SS12

The Inspiration behind Topshop Unique SS12 came about when the design team came across a snap of Elizabeth Taylor in the Iconic 1963 adaptation of Cleopattra. captivated by the glamour and opulence of ancioent Egypt, the collection was inspired by the idea of what a modern Egyptian Queen would wear in ueban London.
